President and Chief Designer

Thierry Lafrance founded MËKANIC after he had spent more than a decade designing and building customized testing rigs on behalf of numerous research laboratories. He has provided technical assistance and guidance to several cohorts of graduate students, and thus contributed to the publication of several dozen theses and scholarly articles in a wide variety of scientific domains.

He has worked on numerous large-scale projects, which inevitably involved a plethora of technical, logistical and organizational challenges. He can harness his expertise, imagination and creativity to address the most difficult questions head on to resolve the most complex problems and situations.

Thierry has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. His unconventional career path includes a wide array of projects whose common traits all include science, passion and a sense of accomplishment.

Director of Finance and Administration

Caroline Fortier takes a hands-on approach to strategic planning and is known for her scrupulous business practices, which all helps MËKANIC fulfil its mission. Holding a B.B.A. granted in 1998 and a member of the Quebec Order of Professional Certified Accountants since 2001, MËKANIC is proud to count upon her expertise in corporate management and financial accounting. Caroline joined MËKANIC in 2013, after acquiring rich and diversified experience with a number of accounting firms, as a financial auditor and later, as a Director of Consulting Services in Governance, Risk Management and Controls.

Mechanical Designer / Draftman

Gene Hay is a senior mechanical designer and an accomplished draftsman. Prior to joining MËKANIC, Gene worked for more than a dozen years gaining experience in design/drafting, manufacturing methods, various software suites and liasing with engineers and machinists. His versatility was further broadened by working in diverse fields of engineering, ranging from transportation, architecture and building systems to complex mechanical systems. Gene graduated in a Mechanical Engineering Technology program with a major in Design.

Designer and Project Manager

Francis is involved in the design and implementation of the projects. He is always open to new challenges. His inquisitive mind and his meticulous work ensure that each of his projects is completed to the satisfaction of everyone. With experience in a high technology manufacturing environment, he knows how to let his imagination run free because he masters materials and manufacturing methods.

Francis has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the École de Technologie Supérieure. He also holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Administration and Operations Support

Éléonore De Denus supports all administrative aspects related to the procurement and customer accounts. She is on the front lines and contributes with her energy and enthusiasm to the efficiency of our operations. She graduated in Operations Management and Logistics and Marketting from the business school HEC Montréal in 2015.

Consulting Mechanical Designer

Réjean Fortier boasts more than 30 years experience in prototype design and manufacturing. His experience was chiefly acquired at Pratt & Whitney Canada, a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and maintenance of aircraft engines, where he worked from 1977 to 2009. His passion, talent, expertise and experience as a designer/draughtsman have played a key role in the success and quality of the projects piloted by MËKANIC.

Technician - Mechanical Assembly

Gilles has over 30 years of plumbing experience and he has acquired skills over the years in welding, machining, auto mechanics, electronics and computers. Extremely good with his hands, he can assemble, modify, repair, adjust and make functional all types of mechanical assembly. His contribution to the quality of our products and our effectiveness is undeniable.

Industrial Process Specialist / Consultant

Stephen Schneller has almost 45 years of experience in design and engineering of heavy mechanical equipment used in power and processing plants. His specialities include the hydraulic design of piping systems, the installation, operation and use of fluid equipment such as compressors, pumps, turbines, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and associated instruments.
